Personal insight into construction

i am currently completeing the 'Women in Civil' Course. I have to say that this course has really opened my eyes. . Through both the training and the Site Tours we are being given real on the job experience that is really preparing us for being out on site! The Women in the group are a fantastic bunch of people that are just as comfortable using a jack hammer and driving a excavator as they are learning theory in the course. The trainers have given us an incredible insight to the industry and I can't wait to head out on site and begin my career in civil contruction. Thanks to John and the trainers for the incredible opportunities that they have given
I'm currently in the Women in Civil Cert1 Resources and Infrastructor course and I'm absolutely enjoying the experience of doing this course. I'm wanting to get into being a plant operator, as my passion is driving and operating machinery. One of my highlights of doing this course was that Komatsu let us operate a couple of their Excavators and that was incredible, a ! My background has been a forklift operator, from the Counter Balance to your High Reach double deep (with no camera!) Forklift, from Freezers to out loading trucks and Containers. Cheers.

I am pleased to say I am participating in CCF's "Women in Civil initiative. I am really enjoying the course and now have a better understanding of the civil industry. Through the efforts of our trainers and by visiting various sites I have gained more insight into how things happen. It's hard to single out any one in particular, so to all at Albem, Hastings Deering, Komatsu & Theiss, thankyou for your time, for sharing your experience and particularly for your encouragement. Looking forward to being part of the civil workforce.

While currently doing 'Woman in Civil' Cert 1cource run by CCF I can say I now have soo much more understanding and knowledge about the civil industry. Its both exciting and such an amazing experiance to be part of this facinating course. I have thoroughly enjoyed all site visits and have learnt some great stuff that will be beneficial to when entering the workforce. I am hoping to start off labouring and doing some hard yakka on site and watching and learning more about the inns and outs of all there is to learn. I thank all our trainers for their hard work and those at our site visits for their time and effort and like cherrie said most of all their encouragement, its been great! cheers.

I'm also in the 'women in civil' course. I would like to thank John Von Reuth, the trainers and the people working behind the scenes for their enthusiasm, support and encouragement throughout the course. The site visits (as mentioned above) have been exciting and very informative. I have been surprised and delighted at just how welcome we were made to feel on each visit. We will all be starting our 2 week work experience placements soon and it is due to the postive nature in which we were recieved on these site visits that I can't wait to get started. Thank You again to everyone who has made this course such a positive experience.

While still in school I participated in “Doorways to civil construction” run by CCF, the course taught me a lot the industry and getting started which helped me to get my foot in the door to start my career in the civil construction industry. What I have currently completed is the six competencies, a small school based project which included minor excavations and installing footings. I am currently completing my structured work place learning thru Logan Alliance and BMD, On completion of my SWL BMD has agreed to employ me full time as a trainee gaining the qualifications of a cert 3 in road construction and maintenance. I would like to thank CCF, CSQ and the trainers for the support and opportunity to begin my career in civil construction.

I have successfully completed the first government intiative Women in Construction Cert 1 in Infrastructure and Resources.I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the highlight for me was the various working site visits. Our trainers John ,Vanessa ,Steve and Ian had a wealth of industry experience which we were fortunate to hear about. We also had a hands on practical task which I learnt so much from our trainer Steve. He was informative and I walked away feeling like I could duplicate the same task at home.Overall this course has been enjoyable and given me great insight to the civil industry. Thanks to CCF and the wonderful, wonderful ladies I have met through the course.Doing this course has reaffirmed my passion for wanting to gain employment in the civil industry. I'm walking out the door with my PPE on and my CCF knowledge ready to open some new doors!! Good Luck Girls and Thanks again John Von Reuth and Vanessa.

I am a first time visitor to this site and I must say it is pleasing to read so many great comments with regards to "women in construction" training course and the benifits that will flow to the civil indusrty. Great work, tremendous team work by the CCF, CSQ and the applicable funding bodies. This program really does show what can be achieved with a concerted and supportive effort for a common goal be be reached. Now, how do we raise the awareness of other states with a similar program to allow the civil industry to show case infrastructure built by not only these potential new civil construction tradespersons, but by all civil construction workers. Well done ladies and don't forget there are civil employment opportunities all over Australia, including that little island at the bottom - Tasmania.
